Welcome to the Former School-Based Counselor page! We are a relatively new community that was established through our collective desire to celebrate our school counseling background and share best practices through the lens of a school counselor. We hope to not only create awareness about our existence within the broader IECA field, but to also increase connection with and support of post-secondary institutions and high school counselors.
Mission Statement:
The Former School-Based Counselor Affinity group seeks to foster community among IECs who share the unique experiences and professional background of school-based counselors employed full-time for a minimum of 3 years by either high schools or college access programs housed within a high school (e.g. TRIO, GearUp, AVID, etc.). We hope to increase awareness, education, and connection between our partners in higher education, secondary schools, and IECA.
